Michel de Nostredame, usually Latinised to Nostradamus, was a French apothe and reputed seer who publish collections of prophecies that have since become famo worldwide. He is best kno for his book Les Propheties ( "The Propheci "), the first edition of which appeared in 1555. Sin the publication of this book, which has rarely be out of print since his death, Nostradamus has attracted a fo that, al with the popul press, credits him with pred many major world events. The prophecies ha in some cases been assimilated to the results of applying the alleged Bi code, as well as to other purported prop works. Most academic sources mainta th the associations made between world ev and Nostradamus's quatr are largely the result of misinterp or mistransla (sometimes deliberate) or else are so tenuous as to render th usele as evidence of any ge predic power. Moreover, none of the sources listed offers any evidence that anyo has ever interpreted any of Nostradamus's qua specifically enough to allow a clear iden of any event in advance.
